what they do in your home...

AmAl's are trained to alert you to everyday sounds that are necessary for your independance and well being. They are trained to make physical contact and lead you to the source of the sound. By providing sound alerts and companionship, American Alsatians can enhance parenting skills, increase employability, and provide greatly increased freedom and safety.  Despite the large size of the American Alsatian - their mellow temperament and minimal need for excercise make these dogs well suited for apartment or rural living.

CAAC American Alsatians in public...

AmAl's provide a hearing impaired person in public by increasing awareness of his or her environment. They are not trained to "alert" to specific sounds, such as a siren or honking horn, rather when a person who is deaf or hard of hearing takes his or her American Alsatian out in public, he or she will gain an awareness of the environment by paying attention to whatever the AmAl Service Dog is reacting to. When the dog turns to look at something it hears, the person will notice and turn to see what's happening as well. The American Alsatians low key temperment will not allow the dog to over react to loud noises, unnecessarily scaring the handler.
